According to several Ayurveda experts, acidity is the direct result of change in food habits. As such acidity was not a severe problem in Vedic times and little reference can be found to this ailment. The ancient name of the disease tells about the acidic nature.
When talking in dosha terms, acidity occurs due to vitiation of vata, kapha or both. Three types of vitiation only.
